sorry but most of you are just talking out of your ass.......the part that was removed was purely to add strength to the seat tube which is now short enough to not need it anyway...the area that was patched up is now in fact stronger with the welds than it was hollow. this is one thing i love about this forum its full of so much haters that think they know it all but in reality wouldnt even have the foresight to even think of mod's like this. Im glad your not listening to most of these people mate as an engineer you have my up most respect for coming up with that idea and personally i think its a design they should have came up with in the first place. If i had the money i would have it straight off you without question :)
